Commitment Schedule

The Chartley Garden Club is committed to taking care of various areas around the town of Norton as well as charitable giving. The following is a rough schedule to commitments to be carried out throughout the year.

Horse Trough and Common

Spring

At common, clean up of trough and triangle
April Plant pansies in trough and enrich soil
End of May At Monuments plant geraniums and marigolds, enrich soil, fertilize, and mulch.

At Horse Trough put tall plants in back, flowing plants in middle like petunias, and hanging plants along rim. Put a light layer of buckwheat mulch.

Daylily garden - weed, and use bulb booster

Summer Weekly weeding, deadheading, water. Once a month use a light application of liquid fertilizer. Stick with schedule of your commitments to water and weed.
Fall At Trough mums are planted. It takes 8 big plants. Slant them. Leave the existing hanging plants.

At Monuments remove plants.

At island trim bushes, separate daylilies, and apply bulb booster.

End of November Put evergreen boughs in Horse Trough.

Pine Street Veteran's Memorial

May Clean up. Plant geraniums. 3 big plants on each side. Feed and mulch.
Summer Weed, deadhead and water.
Fall Plant mums, 2 big plants on each side. You can leave geraniums, just deadhead and water.
November Remove plants.

Library Container

May Mixture planting, enrich soil, and mulch.
Summer Weed, deadhead, and water.
November Remove plants and put in evergreen boughs.

Herb Garden

May Clean garden, replace any plants that did not winter over. Check to make sure plant markers are in place and in usable condition. Buckwheat mulch garden.
Summer Weekly weeding, deadheading.
Fall Clean out garden.
